Arimidex® (anastrozole)

Anastrozole is used for treating breast cancer in women who have been through menopause,including women with disease progression after tamoxifen therapy. Itmay also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Anastrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by lowering bloodestradiol concentrations, which may decrease the size and growth of thetumor.
Anastrozole lowers estrogen levels in postmenopausal women, whichmay slow the growth of certain types of breast tumors that needestrogen to grow in the body.
Anastrozole is used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women.It is often given to women whose cancer has progressed even aftertaking tamoxifen (Nolvadex, Soltamox).
Many breast cancer tumors grow in response to estrogen. This medicineinterferes with the production of estrogen in the body. As a result,the amount of estrogen that the tumor is exposed to is reduced,limiting the growth of the tumor.
